Founded in 2018, The Friends of Bosque Bello is a branch of The Amelia Island Fernandina Restoration Foundation which is a 501(c)3 (non profit) with the mission of promoting the preservation of the architectural, historical and archaeological heritage of Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach through advocacy, education and historic property stewardship. This partnership allows the Friends group to accept tax deductible contributions toward capital projects.
Planning and implementation of a monument conservation strategy
Physical site security and awareness of natural and manmade threats
General maintenance of grounds, infrastructure, and monuments
Tree canopy preservation strategies and replanting program
Photographic documentation of each gravesite to be added to database
Planning, design, and implementing the introduction of a columbaria to provide additional interment options and provide additional revenue
The guided tour at Bosque Bello Cemetery, presented by the Amelia Island Genealogical Society and the Amelia Island Museum of History, offers a unique chance to learn about the lives and stories of notable past residents of Fernandina.
You will be escorted to 8 different gravesites where Costumed Interpreters will share the tales of these individuals (including one or two who are actual relatives).

The tour is on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Tickets are $25 per person
The tour is expected to take approximately 1 ½ hours.
Please be aware that due to the terrain at Bosque Bello, the tour might not be wheelchair accessible or suitable for those using walkers.

Join the Division of Historical Resources and the Florida Public Archaeology Network on Tuesday, May 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., for a free virtual panel discussion, via Zoom, on caring for Florida’s historic cemeteries.
Staff from DHR and FPAN will discuss resources and methodologies for researching historic cemeteries, best practices in caring for historic cemeteries, and the goals of the Florida Historic Cemetery Inventory (https://FPAN.US/HCI).
Attendees are encouraged to interact with panelists as part of the moderated discussion. This program is held in conjunction with the Division of Historical Resources’ 2022 Historic Preservation Month theme “Caring for Florida’s Historic Cemeteries.”
